Urusvati—it is time to say that this is the name We have given to the star that is approaching the Earth with irresistible force. For long ages it has been a symbol of the Mother of the World, and the Epoch of the Mother of the World must begin when Her star has made an unprecedented approach to the Earth. The Great Epoch is beginning, because spirit-understanding is linked to the Mother of the World. Even to those who know the date it is wonderful to witness the physical approach of the destined.
The advent of this great Epoch is so very important, for it will bring about substantial changes in life on Earth. A Great Epoch! I rejoice, seeing how the new rays are penetrating the thickness of the Earth. Even though the rays are hard to bear at first, their emanation is bringing in new elements, so necessary for the forward push. These new rays are reaching the Earth for the first time since it was formed.
It is joyous to feel the New Era approaching.

I have already told you that the Mother of the World conceals Her Name. I have already shown you how the Mother of the World hides Her Face. I have already made mention of the Mother of the Buddha and Christ.
Certainly, it is now time to tell people that the Mother of both Lords is not a symbol but a Great Manifestation of the Feminine Origin—the spiritual Mother of Christ and the Buddha.
It was She who taught Them and ordained Them for podvig1. From time immemorial the Mother of the World has sent forth Her children to podvig. Throughout the history of humanity, Her Hand traces an unbreakable thread.
On Sinai Her Voice rang forth. She assumed the image of Kali. She was at the foundation of Isis and Ishtar. After Atlantis, when a blow was inflicted upon the cult of the Spirit, She began to spin a new thread, which now is beginning to shine forth. After Atlantis the Mother of the World veiled Her Face and forbade anyone to utter Her Name until the hour of the constellations struck. She has only manifested Herself partially, and never manifested Herself on a planetary scale.
The Teaching of the future epoch will be a joining of the spirit with the intellect.
The course of the planets is making it possible to speed up the communion between the worlds, and the development of the human spirit will proceed along new paths.

The luminaries are making it possible to speed up humanity’s path.
Now, more about the Mother of the World. The Mother is beauty, and the world is self-sacrifice. It is by these two fundamentals that the Gates are opened. The bridge between the planets and the abbreviation of the cycles of evolution rest upon these two fundamentals.
Why follow a path of gradual progress if a single flash of illumination will lift you above the boundaries?
Someone whose path is to a distant world usually meets a messenger upon departing Earth. The liberated one tells the messenger whether he prefers to accept a new path or will return to help out the Earth again.
Naturally, many prefer a new path, but there are some who choose the path here (Bodhi-Sattvas).

Thus is the call of the Mother heard! By the spirit will you succeed. When each person understands that the path of the spirit is simple, that it brings the call of the Mother of the World, then he will find the Gates open. Every seeker can, without lamentations or invocations, approach the apparatus of life—through spirit, not intellect. Human hands will be stretched forth not to supplicate but to gather in. The call of the Mother will indicate the Gates, for the time has come to enter them—precisely, the call of the Mother. When the whims of childhood have been forgotten, only the Mother can call.
The meal is ready—the hour has come when a new table is ready.
Come while the meal is still hot!
Many will be unable to swallow the hot food, but the boldest one, like the fairy-tale prince, will devour the fire of the world. And the path of fire will illumine the nearest path.

AUM, WORD, HOLY GHOST – The Cosmic Virgin Mary
“In the beginning was the WORD, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.” (John 1:1-4)
“Word” means intelligent vibration, intelligent energy, going forth from God…“The Word was with God, and the Word was God”: Before creation, there is only undifferentiated Spirit. In manifesting creation, Spirit becomes God the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost… [OM, TAT, SAT in Hinduism] The vibratory force emanating from Spirit, endowed with the illusory creative power of maya, is the Holy Ghost: Cosmic Vibration, the Word, Aum (Om) or Amen. All things, all created planets and living beings in the Holy Ghost, or Holy Vibration, are nothing but the frozen imagination of God. This Holy Ghost in the Hindu scriptures is called the Aum or Maha-Prakriti (Great Nature, the COSMIC MOTHER that gives birth to all creation… The holy Cosmic Sound of Aum or Amen is the witness of the manifested Divine Presence in all creation.
Just as the husband is born again in the wife as the son, so the transcendental God the Father manifested in the Holy Ghost, THE COSMIC VIRGIN MARY (the Virgin Creation), became the sole reflected intelligence of God, the only begotten Son, or Christ Consciousness.
Thus, metaphorically, as soon as the cosmic bachelor Spirit stirs Itself to create the universe, He becomes the husband, God the Father, wedded to Cosmic Virgin Mary or Cosmic Vibration, giving birth to His reflection, the only begotten Son.

Brother Anandamoy: Now when we talk about Divine Mother…to a western person, western mind, to a certain degree this is very difficult to understand. The Hindu has no problems at all because what is to them the Divine Mother is the universal Shakti, the universal power. It is that aspect of God which is dynamic. The One aspect is beyond creation, quiet, no manifestation. And all that is manifestation, the whole cosmos, that’s the Mother.
The fourth arm (of Ma Kali), that’s really the Mother that we are appealing to, that’s the sweet aspect. And that means, “Fear not my child. I am your Mother. Come to me. I give you my unconditional love. I give you salvation.” And so it is usually when we talk about Divine Mother we are thinking about that aspect—Infinite Compassion, Infinite Understanding, Infinite Mercy, Forgiveness, Grace of God. That’s the Mother…
The Infinite variety of aspects of Divine Mother…Divine Mother has also manifested in the west. They call it Virgin Mary and they say it is the Mother of God, but it’s really the Divine Mother. To some devotees She has said, “I am the Mother, I am your Mother, I am the Mother of all.”
St. Therese of Lisieux, in her autobiography, wrote ‘Divine Mother’ and they later on crossed it out and said she was sick, she couldn’t have meant that. They wrote in ‘Mother of God.’ Not true. She meant Divine Mother.
Our Lady of La Salette
So in France, in La Salette one time, she appeared to two little children who were tending their flocks, crying, crying, crying because her human children had gone astray and she said, “Tell them! Tell them! They have gone away from the ways of God and because of this a great famine will come into the world. And tell them, please tell them, to go back to the ways of God and if they do, the famine will be avoided and they won’t suffer.” Still crying, crying she disappeared. And those children went to the village and that news spread all through the villages, the whole region there, and they DID change, and the famine did not come, and they did not suffer.

A Young Boy Experiences the Love of the Divine Mother
I remember a saint I used to visit in India, The first time I went to see him, I had to wait quietly, for he said, “I am talking to Divine Mother.”
He was so great and yet so gentle and childlike! His whole countenance shone with the love of the Divine Mother. When I was in his presence those vibrations were overwhelming. Whenever I saw him talking to Divine Mother I felt a thousand million times more Love in my heart than that which I felt for my earthly mother whom I dearly loved. The emotion is indescribable! I felt I could not exist another moment without my Divine Mother.
One day I went to this saint and said, “How is it you are communing with Divine Mother and I cannot? Please ask Her if She loves me. I must know. I do not feel the love of Divine Mother now. I must have Her. I must know if She loves me!”
I kept on insisting for a long time, until finally the saint said, “All right, I will ask Her.”
And you know, that night I had a great experience. I cherished it silently, within myself. One or two days afterward I went to the saint, and again I saw those upturned eyes wandering in the jungles of the Infinite. Such love you have never seen. In most missionaries who go to India to “save the heathen” I do not see that love of God. And I have seen many Hindu priests and teachers who did not reflect it. But I have also found some great masters in whose eyes I saw God twinkling. I used to bow down at the feet of this gracious saint because I knew Divine Mother was smiling in him.
So I asked, “What did Divine Mother say about me?”
He replied, “Naughty sir, naughty sir!”
“What did Divine Mother say?” I persisted. “You promised me. What did She say?”
Still he repeated only, “Naughty sir!”
I knew he could see through me and realized that I was hiding my thoughts in order to see if the experience I had had was real. And still I went on, “You promised me! Why is it you saints always mystify?”
Then he replied, “You come to test me? That is not right. Didn’t Divine Mother come to you the other night in the form of a most beautiful mother and say, ’Yogananda, I love you always?’”
I didn’t know what to do with myself. I was so filled with the nectar of joy. I had meditated all day long until I heard the answer, and when I went to this saint and heard those same words from him, what could I think? Only one thing: My Mother had truly responded!
When this saint used to talk he was just like a little child. In the glittering of those eyes was the shining of Divine Mother’s eyes. “Everyone that will seek Her will find Her,” he said, “but one has to make the effort.”
